Day 1 -Friday -Arrival
Assaulted by the sounds and smells of this exotic culture you will make your way to the luxurious hotel where you will meet your companions in adventure and enjoy a superb Thai banquet.
Day 2 – Saturday – Bangkok Tour
Today the adventure begins. From the dazzling displays of temples and palaces to the bustling throngs of the markets, Bangkok is a city of sharp contrasts. We will havean introductory cycle tour which avoiding the main roads will glimpse the teeming streets and the picturesque waterways. We will visit the floating market and the Grand Palace. At the Emerald Buddha and the Temple of The Dawn, you will walk with Saffron robed monks to witness the splendours of this ancient religion. The evening will be free to explore the vibrant night life.
Day 3 – Sunday – To Chiang Mai
This morning we leave our hotel for the short flight to Chiang Mai. The flight gives us the opportunity to preview some of the spectacular cycling terrain before we land in the Capital of the North.
After checking into our hotel we will select from our stock of high quality bikes and prepare them to our individual requirements, ready for the road to adventure.
After a leisurely lunch , we will embark on a short cycling tour of Chiang Mai. Within the walls of this fascinating city are many ancient Wats (Temples). We will have the opportunity visit the finest of them. Our local guide will bring to life the culture and traditions of the people as we explore the narrow byways and the hidden corners of the town. There will be a chance to shop for some of the renowned local crafts and interesting artefacts available from the shops and markets. .
Day 4 – Monday The Main Ride Begins – to Huai Nam Dang National Park
Early in the morning we transfer by road to Sop Poeng near Mae Taeng , 50km north of Chiang Mai where we start the cycling adventure. Here we mount our bikes for the 90km (55mile) ride to and through the magnificent Huai Nam Dang National Park, which is situated high on a ridge of forested mountains.

During the day's ride we will visit the Mok Fa Falls. Here the river cascades through verdant greenery and jagged rocks into a sand-fringed pool over a hundred feet below. There will be an opportunity to swim below the waterfall, before sharing an al fresco meal prepared by your support team. If time, we may also have the opportunity to visit the Pong Duet Hot Springs, hidden in a beautiful wooded valley, where scalding jets of water lace the steaming air. Down stream, the water cools to a comfortable heat, here you will have the opportunity to bathe again and soak away the aches of the ride in a natural hot spa.
The day's ride culminates with the chance to work up an appetite, as the road climbs up to the heights of the National Park. Here the spectacular views to the borders of Burma are an ample reward for our efforts and the comfortable bungalow accommodation promises us a night of well-earned rest.
Day 5 – Tuesday - Huai Nam Dang to Soppong
At dawn you should witness what has been described as “A sight to make the Angels weep.” A heavenly light illuminates the mists in the valleys, as the sun rises above the neighbouring peaks. Inspired by the spectacle, we embark on our longest ride of 110 km (70 miles) to Soppong. However today is more downhill than up as we descend from the 7,000 ft mountain to a mere 3,000 feet.
Today's adventures include a visit to a delightful thermal spring near the resort village of Pai.
Before the final exhilarating downhill ride from the Kui Lom viewpoint into Soppong the day has one further treat in store; as we towards the interlocking peaks, the sun begins to sink in a blaze of fire behind the silhouetted mountains. As we enter Soppong at nightfall, we reach our comfortable accommodation at the hospitable Lemon Hill Guest House.
After dinner we experience an encounter with the people of local Lisu hill tribe in their village who will provide us with their unique blend of authentic hospitality.
Day 6 – Wednesday - Soppong to Mae Hong Son
The day will commence with a visit to the awesome Lot Cave. We float down the river on a bamboo raft and soon disappear below the mountain into a vast cavern. Here the stalagmites and stalactites are some of the largest and most spectacular in the world.
We will then have an enjoyable 79km (50 mile) ride though lush green scenery, with two climbs to view points along the way.
Our comfortable resort just outside Mae Hong Son provides us with a chance to relax with a drink and a convivial meal before retiring for a well-earned rest.
Day 7 – Thursday - Around Mae Hong Song
A short day's circular ride, just 45 km to cycle with a single hill climb rising 200 metres above the town to the temple with extensive views of the region. The charming scenery of this border area has a culture and a cuisine all of its own.
Today we will take a cruise in a long boat down the Pai River to visit a remote village where our local guide will introduce us to the culture of the Karen (long neck) people. We will also visit jungle camp beside the river where we will make friends with the largest inhabitants of Thailand – the elephants. The local mahouts will be happy to accommodate you on the backs of their mounts and demonstrate the unique skills and awesome strength of these fascinating animals.
There will be an option to visit a hot mud spa for some authentic mud treatments.
We will return to the same resort hotel in Mae Hong Son with opportunities to spend some time in the town.
Day 7 – Friday – Circular trip to Mae Aw and the border villages
The final cycle day starts with a pleasant cycle through the Pai valley and then a dramatic ascent of over 1200 metres though spectacular and varied countryside. We will visit some of the mountain villages including Mae Aw, close by the border with Burma, inhabited by many anti-communist Chinese. Here the mountain lake has an otherworldly aspect as drowned trees create strange reflections and a second sun appears mirrored in the waters.
The day ends with a great downhill and return through the valley via an impressive waterfall.
At the end of this hard days cycling we return to our comfortable resort hotel and another opportunity to explore the local town of Mae Hong Son.
Day 9 – Saturday – Transfer to Chiang Mai
We will fly back to Chiang Mai in the morning and on to Bangkok for our final night's celebratory Thai dinner and a final night out on the town.
Day 10 – Sunday – Transfer from Bangkok
